A 27-year-old Syracuse man faces charges of online enticement of a minor after allegedly driving to Seneca Falls Thursday in an attempt to have sex with a 12-year-old girl.
The investigation into Charlie Conant began when a State Police investigator discovered a personal ad on a Syracuse website that appeared to be targeting minors for sex.
The officer responded and allegedly struck up several conversations with Conant, which included requests for nude photos of the girl.
After almost two months of no communication, Conant sent a text message to the undercover officer, which opened the door for more interaction.
He would later indicate he wanted to meet the teen in Seneca Falls for the purpose of having sex.
On Thursday, Conant allegedly drove to Seneca Falls to meet with the “minor” while her grandmother was supposedly at work.
When he arrived at the determined meeting place, Conant was arrested.
He is being held pending a detention hearing on Thursday afternoon.
