With less than a week left in the legislative session, State Senators have been busy passing a flurry of bills.
Sen. John DeFrancisco’s bill that would create a State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct was approved. The commission would review and investigate complaints of prosecutorial misconduct, could discipline prosecutors determined to have acted improperly or clear prosecutors of wrongdoing.
On a lighter note, the Senate passed a DeFrancisco bill that would name the wood frog the state’s official amphibian, while Senator James Seward announced approval of legislation he sponsors that would allow the sale of ice cream made with beer and hard cider.
The owners of Gilligan’s Island in Sherburne, Chenango County proposed the legislation. The restaurant, which already makes over 30 flavors of ice cream, has created ice cream with beer and hard cider and is ready to sell the new flavors as soon as the legislation is signed into law.
