A special meeting of the Seneca Falls Town Board scheduled for Thursday afternoon was canceled after it was determined that legal notification requirements were not met.
The meeting was to be held to reconsider bonding for a 3-MILLION dollar upgrade to the town’s sewer system. The plan is to increase the sewer lines along Route 414 from: del Lago Resort & Casino, the Waterloo Premium Outlet Mall, and the Junius Thruway Service Area. Upgrading the the Kingdom Road pump station will cost $15 million dollars, del Lago will cover that cost. Sewer lines would cross the Cayuga-Seneca Canal and possibly run along the Ludovico Sculpture Trail before getting to the town’s wastewater treatment plant.
The Town Board voted last month to use an eminent domain procedure to take the Ludovico Sculpture Trail as the location of a new, larger sewer line. The matter is awaiting state supreme court action
A bonding motion at last Tuesday’s town board meeting failed to be seconded, which resulted in today’s special session being scheduled.
