The Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance will hold its 28th annual 4-day event from July 19th to July 22nd in Trumansburg, NY. The festival will host 75 bands featuring local as well as national and international artists.
The festival’s host band, Donna the Buffalo, playing original American dance music since 1989, will be joined by Grammy-Award winning artist Patty Griffin, and Reggae legend Toots & the Maytals. Other headliners include The Wood Brothers, an American folk band from Nashville and Valerie June, a multi-instrumentalist encompassing a mixture of folk, blues, gospel, soul, country, Appalachian and bluegrass.
This year’s festival will once again highlight acclaimed musical talents from around the globe including: Sidi Touré who creates Malian Songhaï Music in the name of celebration despite conflict and challenge, LADAMA, a self-described “Pan-American collaboration” comprised of women from four different countries, and DakhaBrakha, returning with their amazing talent for a second year in a row from the Ukraine.
In addition, the festival will feature many American Roots favorites such as Jim Lauderdale, Keith Frank & Soileau Zydeco, and the Campbell Brothers to name a few. Regional and local favorites such as Driftwood, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Sim Redmond Band, and Big Mean Sound Machine will also perform along with many others you don’t want to miss.

The artists and the audiences who connect with them are the heart of the festival, but the experience isn’t limited to just that. Other offerings include camping, local food and craft vendors, children’s activities, daily yoga, healing arts and instrument workshops, visual arts exhibits, and so much more.
The festival is held in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Central New York at the Trumansburg Fairgrounds in Trumansburg, NY. For a full performer lineup and ticket information, please visit: grassrootsfest.org.
