Penn Yan Police say an individual died from a suspected overdose last Friday.
Officers responded to the scene in the village and when they arrived, they found a person not conscious with extreme difficulty breathing. Officers attempted to resuscitate the individual and Penn Yan Ambulance personnel administered Narcan. The individual was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. An investigation revealed a friend located the victim unconscious and called another friend that responded to the scene with their own personal Narcan and administered it. When that did not work, they called 9-1-1.
Officers recovered a used syringe and several unused syringes at the scene.
