New York State is seeking proposals for developing the closed Butler Correctional Facility in Wayne County.
Empire State Development will evaluate all proposals received by the August 9th deadline using several criteria, including design, direct economic benefits, and timing. Those interested can submit ideas for using the 101-acre medium security facility or the 50-acre minimum security facility, or both. Officials say there is a 45-acre parcel of land next to the facilities that can be added to any proposal.
The minimum security facility shutdown in 2011 and the medium security facility followed suit three years later.
