The Penn Yan Middle School was placed on lock down Monday morning after two live .22 caliber shells were found.
A student found the first shell in the school’s auditorium and notified staff. A complete search of the auditorium by staff turned up a second live round. The school was placed on lock down and authorities searched the entire building and found nothing further.
The auditorium did host events over the weekend and its not known at this time who brought the ammunition into the school.
