A 27-year-old Canandaigua woman has been charged with animal cruelty following an investigation by the Ontario County Humane Society.
The investigation started after a neighbor heard a dog barking from a residence where the occupants were evicted for unsanitary living conditions last month at 3-HUNDRED Castle Street in Geneva. The neighbor checked the residence and found a dog named Nala, tied to a porch without food or water. Nala was found to have a severe skin condition due to neglect and the conditions she was living in. She is currently being cared for at the Humane Society.
In addition to animal cruelty, Leah Coleman was also charged with animal abandonment and failure to provide food/water to an impounded animal.
Coleman was issued an appearance ticket for Geneva City Court.
