Canandaigua Police say a credit card skimmer found at a city gas station may have captured more than 2,000 transactions.
Chief Stephen Hedworth says the device discovered last month at the A-Plus Mini Mart on South Main Street on Pump 1 may have been in place since last November.
Hedworth also says anyone that may have used that particular pump during the time period in question can contact police at 585-337-2106 to verify if their card information was captured by the skimmer.
PUBLIC AWARENESS UPDATE
The Canandaigua Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident involving the discovery of a skimming device implanted inside a gas pump at the A Plus Mini Mart gas station, located at 484 South Main Street, in the City of Canandaigua.
At this time, we believe the skimming device could have been implanted inside the pump as far back as November 2017. The device was discovered on May 20th, 2018. We believe the device captured over 2,000 transactions. If you believe that you may have used pump #1 during the time in question, please contact the Canandaigua Police Department so we can verify if your name was discovered on the skimming device.
