A new charge has been filed against Alberto Gutierrez-Reyes, the 26-year-old man charged with evidence tampering in the Wayne County missing person case of Selena Hidalgo-Calderon and her 14-month-old son, Owen Hidalgo-Calderon.
The U.S. Department of Justice has now charged Gutierrez-Reyes with illegally re-entering the country using fake documents. Reyes was previously arrested in September 2016 and March 2017 for illegally entering the U.S., which resulted in him being deported each time. He is now charged with possession of a counterfeit social security card and alien registration card. If convicted, Reyes faces up to 10 years in prison and a 250-THOUSAND dollar fine.
Last week, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Reyes after he allegedly admitted to burying his girlfriend, but not murdering her.
He will appear in a Rochester federal courtroom Monday.
