Donald E. Wiltsie, 76, went to heaven to be greeted by his loving wife Linda on Sunday (May 27, 2018) the one year anniversary of her death. He lived through a tough lonely year without her and is finally in her loving arms again. Don will also be joining his constant companion Lucky, who gave him much joy and comfort especially in this past year.
The family will be holding a Memorial Service at 1 p.m. on Friday (June 1) at the Newark Elk Lodge, South Main Street, Newark followed by a time of fellowship and celebration of Don’s life.
Memorials, in Don’s name, may be made to Laurel House Comfort Care, PO Box 595, Newark, New York 14513.
Don was born on January 18, 1942 in the Lyons Hospital, the son of the late Sheldon and Laura Brown Wiltsie. He often talked of family and his time of growing up in Clyde. Don, or as his friends and family referred to him Butch, was an active member of his community, always willing to lend a hand. His favorite commitments were to the Newark Elks Lodge, the August Mauer Post American Legion, the Newark Fire Department and in the past Jake’s Little Angels. He was a hard worker, unselfish, and a social butterfly, a great conversationalist and a good friend to many. Butch retired from Xerox in 1999, after more than 35 years as a painter.
He leaves behind his two devoted daughters Dawn (Michael) DiGiovacchino of Ambler, Pa. and Sharon Wiltsie of Fairport; three grandchildren whom he cherished-Nicholas, Gabriella and Kellie; two sisters Beverly Sozio of Newark and Barbara Calviera of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; many nieces and nephews. Butch will be missed by so many of those whose lives he touched in various ways.
Besides his wife and parents, Don was predeceased by his brothers Giles, Robert, Sr. and Sheldon, Jr.; his sisters Geraldine Norton and Doris DiSanto.
