Congressman John Katko spoke to members of the Cayuga County business community and governments on Wednesday morning at a roundtable discussion hosted by Dickman Farms and the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce.
The dialogue covered a wide range of topics from free trade and the NAFTA agreement to local healthcare concerns and the Trump administration’s global efforts.
The two-term Republican defended his decision earlier this month to sign on to a discharge petition to force a series of votes on immigration and the DACA issue.
He tells Finger Lakes News Radio even though his decision may have alienated some of his base, he’s confident heading into November’s election.
A non-partisan study released last month by the Lugar Center and Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy ranked Katko as the 7th most bipartisan member of both the House and the Senate.
