Cayuga County and the City of Auburn will be hosting the annual tax foreclosure auction next week.
A dozen residential and one mixed commercial/residential property in the city will be on the auction block along with 27 parcels of vacant land, residential and commercial properties located throughout the county. Proceeds from the sales help the city and county recoup the lost tax revenues from the foreclosed properties.
It all happens next Wednesday, June 6 at the Emerson Park Pavilion. Registration begins at 12:30 pm and the first property will be auctioned at 2:00 pm.
Bidders are required to register by showing a valid driver’s license or other acceptable form of ID. Anyone owing back property taxes in Cayuga County will not be eligible to bid until the back tax amount has been paid in full. Successful bidders are required to pay the buyer’s premium (10% of the bid), deposit (20% of the bid) and $200 administrative fee immediately after the bid is awarded at the auction.
Parcels sold for $500 or less are payable in full that day. Accepted payment methods at the auction are cash, check, MasterCard or Visa. Credit card payments, however, are subject to a convenience fee assessed on each transaction by the credit card
