It’s time to cut the ribbon on the new $5-million dollar upgrade that is now the Finger Lakes Welcome Center and Rochester-Finger Lakes Walk-of-Fame. Governor Andrew Cuomo will visit Geneva today at 3:30pm to officially open the center.
The center has been open for about 2-weeks as the staff from the New York Kitchen, formerly the New York Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua, works out the operations of the center.
The welcome center highlights the history and attractions of the Finger Lakes region, as defined by the state to include not only Ontario, Seneca and Yates counties, but others in the Rochester metropolitan region, including Wayne and Monroe counties.
The café and store offer Finger Lakes wine, craft beers and ciders that can be purchased by the glass, bottle or pack, in the case of beer and cider.
The Welcome Center’s summer hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday to Friday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
