The Boards of Directors and the leadership of Hospice of the Finger Lakes and Hospice of Central New York on Tuesday announced the merger of the healthcare agencies. The combined organizations will function as one entity, with HCNY continuing to use the Hospice of the Finger Lakes name in Cayuga County.
The filing of the merger paperwork follows several months of discussion and negotiation between the two organizations. In a release, Hospice of the Finger Lakes Board President Tim Callahan said while “HFL has managed through some significant challenges, it has become increasingly difficult for small agencies like HFL to thrive and provide the necessary level of services.”
The merger requires the approval of the New York State Department of Health.
