Cayuga County Mayors and Town Supervisors will join county officials on Friday afternoon to begin planning the state-mandated shared services initiative.
The meeting at the Cayuga Onondaga BOCES will be a first look by county and local leaders at what shared services already exist, what shared service opportunities they should investigate, and what has worked in other communities.
The meeting gets underway at 4 and is open to the public. Additional meetings will be held at BOCES on June 1, 18 and 15 as well as July 13. Those sessions will focus on specific government services, including Highway and Public Works, Assessment, Human Resources, Public Safety, Courts, and Procurement.
The projects will be incorporated into a Shared Services Plan and put up for a vote by the Shared Services Panel. The county’s shared services plan must be submitted to the State no later than September 15.
