The votes are in, and there will be a change at the top of the Auburn School Board. With 156 ballots still to be counted in the race for three seats on the board, longtime board president Michael McCole is currently fourth, well behind current vice-president Kathleen Rhodes, incumbent Sam Giangreco and newcomer Ian Phillips.
Phillips is also the chair of the Cayuga County Democratic Party Committee. Rhodes and McCole were first elected to the school board in 2012.
McCole appeared on Tuesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News and said there’s a big learning curve for any new board member.
Speaking on Wednesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News, School District Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo said this about McCole.
The Citizen reports after the results were revealed, McCole congratulated the winners and said, “good luck, have fun and if you need me, I’ll be fishing.”
