On Sunday, May 20th, Yates County residents will have the opportunity to meet with the five candidates who are running to be the NY-23rd Congressional District’s Democratic Nominee for Congress. A Forum to meet the candidates is scheduled to be at the Benton Fire Hall, 932 State Route 14A. The Forum will run from 2 PM to 4 PM, and the candidates will be available to meet at 1:00. The Forum is sponsored by the Yates County Democratic Committee.
“Some of these candidates have been working for over a year listening to the people of the NY-23rd Congressional District, finding out about their concerns,” explained YCDC Co-Chair, Rich Stewart. “They have different backgrounds, different accomplishments, and different strengths, but the same desire to go to Washington to work with others to find common sense solutions to today’s problems.”
The candidates are: Linda Andrei (Tompkins County), Max Della Pia (Tioga County), Ian Golden (Tompkins County), Tracy Mitrano (Yates County) and Eddie Sundquist (Chautauqua County). All have collected enough signatures on nominating petitions to be on the ballot for the June 26 Federal Primary election.
The questions in the Forum will will be posed by the Committee and will center on issues important to Yates County residents, including healthcare, environment, national security, the economy, gun violence, agriculture and the opioid crisis.
“Even though only democrats can vote in the primary, all are welcomed to come to the May 20 Forum. One of these candidates will face Rep. Reed in the November 6 General Election,” said Val Brechko, Co-Chair of the Yates County Democratic Committee.
For those who cannot attend, this event will be streamed live at the “Yates County Democratic Committee” Channel on Youtube.
