Two men are behind bars following a long standoff on Sunday. The incident began shortly before 6am when Auburn Police received a report of a possible abduction of a woman at gunpoint.
Captain Jim Moore tells Finger Lakes News radio the suspect’s vehicle was located outside of a house on Chapman Avenue.
Because a weapon was allegedly used the Emergency Response Team and a negotiation team were called in, and after several hours the suspect surrendered. Captain Moore says it’s likely 31-year old Tyrone Matthews will not face charges in connection with the incident.
Matthews was wanted on a Cayuga County gun-related indictment warrant, while 29-year old Scott Myers was wanted on a felony warrant held by the Sheriff’s Office. Both men were remanded to the county jail.
