Catherine Aikina-Engelina LaPlant, 80, entered eternal rest Monday (April 30, 2018) at her home.
All services will be private.
Catherine was born Friday (October 8, 1937) in the Netherlands. She came to the United States in 1961. Catherine graduated from high school in Holland. Over the years she worked for Garlock Corp in Palmyra, IEC in Newark, and Sarah Coventry in Newark always as an assembly worker. Catherine had a giving heart, always giving to and helping at the VFW – War Dads. She enjoyed Rock collecting, walking, bullhead fishing, gardening, cooking, and baking. Catherine was a collector of rocks, coins, and elephants.
Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her son, Raymond (Dena) Tokaya of Marion; daughter, Monique McGee of Newark; step-children Lorraine (Ira) Tohafjian, Norman Jr., Kim (Gerry) Minns, Christine, Wayne; granddaughter, Cindy Nesbit of Newark; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Fredina (Michael) Latu of Epernay France; one niece and one nephew.
Catherine was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Tokaya and her second husband, Norman LaPlant; step-child, Linda (Chuck) Benfer; great-grandson, Juan Figueroa Jr.; granddaughter, Stacey LaPlant.
