Wendy Bonilla, the sister of accused murderer Lloyd Neurauter, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted bribery of a witness and conspiracy in Steuben County Court Monday.
According to the Steuben County District Attorney’s office, Bonilla and her brother conspired to give Karrie Neurauter a free lawyer in her case to encourage her to change her testimony. Karrie Neurauter is Lloyd’s daughter. She pleaded guilty in March to second-degree murder in exchange for a lesser prison sentence and to testify against her father in the murder of her mother, Michelle Neurauter.
Bonilla faces up to 4 years in prison if convicted. She was released from police custody but was told if she doesn’t appear in court she can be prosecuted without being present and if she returns home to California and has to be extradited back to New York, she will pay the cost.
