Lloyd D. Howell, age 91, of Dundee, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday (April 24, 2018) at the Homestead Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday (April 30) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., Dundee, with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery with Military Honors.

Lloyd was born December 1, 1926 in the Town of Starkey, to Walter R. and Edith M. (Knapp) Howell. He was the eighth of nine children. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1947. Served in the U.S Army 1950-1952 with eight months in Korea. On November 5, 1954, he married Emma “Jean” Brown. Lloyd worked for Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation for 30 years, from 1953 to 1983. He enjoyed farming part time and working with animals. Growing up he worked with horses, farming using a team of horses to do the field work. Lloyd lived and worked on his own farm for 41 years before building a new house in 1995. He served in all offices of the American Legion, Bradley Jessop Post 660; a member for 45 years. Lloyd also served 3 years on the Agway Committee and was a member of the Crystal Valley Grange for 35 years.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 63 years; son, Walter W. (Launa) Howell; daughter, Risa M Howell of Dundee; three grandchildren David B. (Courtney) Howell, Daniel K. (Jessica R.) Howell, and Jessica Joy Howell; two great-grandchildren Cyle J. Howell and Brantley J. Howell, all of Dundee; two sister- in-law Ida M. Howell and Rose Howell; brother-in-law Charles W. Brown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lloyd was predeceased by his siblings Martha, Howard, Alfred, Charles, Clarence, Laura Galek, Dorothy Cooper and James.
