The Fairport man accused of stealing mail while working as a Postal Service Carrier in Victor pleaded guilty to theft of mail Friday.
On December 27th, the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General received information about mail thefts. Managers reported receiving multiple complaints of missing mail from a delivery route Ludwig had. The missing mail contained either cash or gift cards. During their investigation, Postal Agents conducted surveillance of Ludwig and placed a piece of outgoing mail in a mailbox along the route which contained two 25 dollar Wegmans gift cards. Ludwig took the bait and would later redeem those same cards.
When sentenced in August, Ludwig faces up to 5 years in prison and a 250-THOUSAND dollar fine.
