A day after announcing he was suspending his campaign for governor, Republican State Senator John DeFrancisco announced on Thursday he will not seek reelection in November.
He explained the reason behind his decision on Friday’s Finger Lakes Morning News.
DeFrancisco criticized the leaders of the state Republican and Conservative parties for not vetting Duchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, who is the favored candidate to run for the GOP in November.
The Senate Deputy Majority Leader has held the 50th District Senate seat since 1993, and is one of the most vocal critics of Gov. Cuomo.
