The former police officer accused of being one of California’s most feared serial killers and rapists has ties to the region.
Joseph DeAngelo, dubbed the Golden State Killer, was profiled by a California newspaper in 1973 for his work as a police officer. The article stated DeAngelo was born in Bath, New York, in 1945 and is the son of Joseph DeAngelo, Senior and Kathleen Bosano. It is not known for how long Joseph DeAngelo stayed in Steuben County.
DeAngelo was charged Wednesday with 8 murders and could face more than a dozen additional charges.
