The Cayuga County Legislature on Tuesday voted to fast track repairs to the portion of Stewarts Corners Road in the Town of Venice that was washed away in a landslide earlier this month.
District 8 Legislator Joe DeForest represents the area in southern Cayuga County. He was happy to measure passed after a lengthy discussion.
Legislator Tucker Whitman was concerned about the $30,000 price tag for the project and wanted it tabled, but DeForest tells Finger Lakes News Radio the road is a major route for area farmers, and needs to be reopened as soon as possible.
The landslide created a 40-foot deep ravine at one end of a box culvert.
