Cayuga County legislators are getting a raise.
The lawmakers voted Tuesday night to increase their salary from $10,100 to $13,500. The original proposal was for a salary of $15,000 but an amendment was introduced before the vote.
Legislature Chair Pat Mahunik recently told Finger Lakes News Radio a raise would have an added benefit.
The vote was not unanimous. Six lawmakers voted against the first raise for legislature members since 2005.
