A petition drive is underway to keep a convicted murderer behind bars.
In August 1990, 14-year-old Chad Campbell murdered a 15-year-old babysitter and the 17-month-old boy she was watching in Palmyra. Next month, Campbell will again be eligible for parole.
Yesterday, New York State Senator Pam Helming posted a petition on her State Senate website and is asking the public to sign it to help keep Campbell in prison. Earlier this year, Senator Helming sent a letter to the New York State Parole Board opposing Campbell’s early release and demanding he spend the remainder of his life serving time in prison.
Copies of the petition will be delivered to the parole board at the end of this month.
