The Auburn School Board meets on Wednesday evening and will vote on the proposed budget for the 2018-19 school year.
Board President Michael McCole said on Tuesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News there will be a 1.58% tax increase, and a budget deficit which will lead to job cuts. District officials are hoping to keep the layoffs to a minimum.
He added voters will also be asked to approve resolutions that would create 2 capital reserve funds; one for capital projects and the second to replace the Holland Stadium turf 10 or 15 years from now.
McCole says the tax increase is right at the district’s tax cap.
Residents within the school district’s boundaries will vote on the budget and the resolutions on Tuesday, May 15.
