One of the many traditions associated with the New York Yankees is the playing of Kate Smith’s rendition of “God Bless America” during every 7th inning stretch during home games at Yankee Stadium. Along with musical salute, the Yankees also pay tribute to a military veteran and their family. On Tuesday night, a Penn Yan native was honored for his service to our country.
U.S. Army Corporal Dylan Duncan was joined by his family on the field behind home plate and was introduced to the crowd of more than 34,000 by Yankees public address announcer Paul Olden. Cpl. Duncan received recognition for his service during Operation Enduring Freedom and receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
The Yankees could have used Dylan’s power on this night, as they fell to the Marlins 9-1.
