He was born June 17, 1961 in Chambersburg to Calvin and Fanny (Mackey) Cook. Randy was a 1979 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, and went on to proudly serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. In 1990, he began working for the State of New York providing direct care for adults with special needs, followed by many years of maintenance service. In 1993, Randy dedicated his life to Christ. Six years later, he married Shelly Fuhrken on March 21, 1999, and for 19 blessed years together, they allowed God to be the foundation of their family life, raising their four children. In August of 2016, Randy was diagnosed with ALS. During his illness, he referred to ALS as At the Lord’s Service, and counted it a privilege to share the love of Jesus with every person he encountered.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Shelly; daughter, Marissa; sons Craig (Lauren), Shane, and Ryan; grandchildren Jason “J.J.”, Fiona, and Silas; parents Calvin and Fanny (Mackey) Cook; brothers Roy (Teresa) Cook and Terry (Claudia) Cook; sister, Melinda (Martin) Acri; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and extended family.
“Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.”
