Winifred Hilkert, 95, of 22 Oak St., died Sunday (April 1, 2018) at Seneca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waterloo, N.Y.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday (April 5) at Springbrook Cemetery in Seneca Falls, N.Y. Rev. Laura Calos, pastor of Waterloo United Methodist Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beverly’s Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY, 13165 or Waterloo United Methodist Church, 21 E. William St., Waterloo, NY, 13165.
Winifred was born Jan. 23, 1923 in Penn Yan, N.Y., the daughter of Herman and Mabel Grace Whitney Stratton. She was a lifelong resident of the Finger Lakes area. Winifred was a graduate of Romulus Central School. Before retiring, she was employed for many years as a secretary for Royce and Rosencrans Insurance Co. in Seneca Falls, N.Y. She was a longtime member of Waterloo United Methodist Church.
She is survived by grandchildren, Tammy (Rusty) Thompson ofBelton, SC, Susan Hilkert of Seneca Falls, N.Y., Thomas (Debra) Hilkert of Donalds, S.C., and Amy McConnell of Kannapolis, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Winifred was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; son, Thomas,Jr.; great-granddaughter, Samantha Hilkert; brothers Robert, Leon and Gerald Stratton; and sister, Eva Ogden.
