Marion was born on April 6, 1931, in Rochester, N.Y. to the late Durando and Rose Loiacona Petrossi. She attended Sacred Heart Academy, St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, Mercy High School in Rochester, and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Albany. Marion went to Regis College in Boston for two years and graduated from Barry University in 1953 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology as well as minors in Spanish, English, and psychology.
She was a former member of the Geneva Country Club and enjoyed volunteering at Happiness House, Geneva General Hospital Guild, and Finger Lakes Family Counseling. Marion and her husband, John J. Bero, Jr. (“Jack”), loved to travel and vacation with their family. While they were particularly proud of their cross-country motorhome trip all the way to Alaska and their other travels in Canada, Europe, and Mexico, Marion’s favorite vacation involved taking her entire extended family on a Caribbean cruise for her and Jack’s 50th wedding anniversary. After retirement, Marion combined her love of traveling with her passion for square dancing by trekking all over the country with Jack to participate in various group dancing events. They enjoyed many years in Naples, Fla., where their home was always open to family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, John J. Bero, Jr.; daughter, Lorraine (Charles Blowers) McGuigan of Geneva; sons John (Diane) Bero, III of Canandaigua, Steven (Cynthia) Bero of Canandaigua, David (Sandra) Bero of Canandaigua; grandchildren Francis (Arielle Colton) McGuigan, Rebecca McGuigan, John Bero, IV, Jeffrey Bero, Nicholas (Jeanine) Bero, Stefanie (Stephen Perry) Bero, Christopher Bero, David Bero, Jr., Allyson Bero; great-grandchildren Addison McGuigan-Westfall, Adrian Bero, Ainsley Bero, Micah Shmilovich; brother, Durando (Lucille) Petrossi, Jr. of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
