Leaders of Cayuga County and Auburn on Thursday presented their outlook for the upcoming year at the annual State of Cayuga County and City of Auburn luncheon hosted by the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce. The harmful algal bloom issue is an important issue for both governments.
City Manager Jeff Dygert tells Finger Lakes News Radio making the powder activated carbon system installed last year will become permanent, and will continue to keep toxins produced by the blooms out of the city’s water system.
Dygert adds there will also be improvements made at the city’s filtration plant.
Town of Owasco Supervisor Ed Wagner recently told Finger Lakes News Radio there will be a permanent filtration system installed at the town’s filtration plant after a temporary system was used in 2017.
