Sales tax revenue in Cayuga County and Auburn were up during the first quarter of 2018.
County Treasurer Jim Orman tells Finger Lakes News Radio the quarterly report follows a trend the county experienced in 2017.
Combined revenue in the county and its municipalities was 7% higher in the first three months of this year compared to the same period last year. Sales tax in Auburn jumped 7.7 % over the first quarter of 2017.
He can’t put his finger on the exact reason people are spending money.
Orman says those numbers could increase if the new state budget includes a tax on internet sales.
Cayuga County has collected slightly over $4 Million in sales tax revenues since the beginning of the year.
