Last October, President Trump declared this country’s opioid epidemic a public health emergency. Monday, he unveiled his plans to crack down on the health crisis, including harsher penalties for drug traffickers, like the death penalty for those whose product claims many lives. Congressman Tom Reed agrees with the President.
Congressman Reed says the problem isn’t just the illegal drug traffickers.
Reed has twice introduced a bill on the House floor while in Washington called the HELP Act, which would allow federal prosecutors access to more severe penalties, including life in prison or the death penalty, when prosecuting certain criminal drug cases.
