Barbara Garlock was born in a home on Main Street in Newark, New York to Catherine (Hart) and Vincent Garlock. She graduated from Victor High School. Barbara loved music and to dance. She wouldn’t miss Dancing with the Stars! She loved all sports especially ice skating, Derek Jeter and the Yankees!
Barbara dedicated her life to her family and the Women’s Auxiliary at the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic. She started her career volunteering in the Clifton Springs Sanitarium Lobby Shop in the early 1970’s. She became the proud buyer and manager of the Lobby Shop and the Mezzanine Market when the new hospital was built. Barbara dedicated over 36 years of her life to the Women’s Auxiliary, the Lobby Shop, the staff, patients and patrons of the Clifton Springs Hospital. She is best known in her later years for the coffee and donuts she served in the foyer as her favorite music graciously greeted everyone who entered the hospital. She still holds the record for the most recorded volunteer hours of the notorious Pink Ladies of the Women’s Auxiliary.
Barbara was a loving mother to her three daughters Deborah Tolan, Mary Jo (Daryll) Parker of Florida, and Stephanie (Karl) Joyce of Newark, New York; she was a dedicated grandmother, “Nana Lobby Shop” to her two grandchildren Brian and Trisha Tandle; Nana was very proud to be a great-grandmother to six beautiful children. Brian and Sarah Tandle from Pennsylvania are the parents of Maria, Jackson and Benjamin Tandle. Barbara Sullivan is preceded by her mother and father, Catherine and Vincent Garlock; her son-in-law, Robert Tolan; brother, William Garlock; and sister, Sandra (Garlock) Bulman.
Barbara and her family want to thank the Clifton Springs Nursing Home for embracing Our Mother and Grandmother during the last 3 years of her life.
