One week ago, local and national experts gathered at SUNY ESF in Syracuse for the second of Governor Cuomo’s four regional summits on harmful algal blooms. The summit focused on issues in Owasco, Cayuga and Skaneateles Lakes.
Cayuga County Planning Director Steve Lynch said on Tuesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News Owasco Lake is in the worst shape of the three.
He added it’s good that Owasco Lake has become the focal point for the battle against the blooms.
In order to solve the algal bloom problem, Lynch said government and non-government agencies like OWLA and the Save Owasco Now need to continue to work together in a concentrated effort.
