Betty Jenkins, 93, passed away early Friday morning (February 23, 2018).
Friends and family are invited to call Thursday (March 8) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia Street, Waterloo. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday (March 9) at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary’s Church, Waterloo. Burial will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Waterloo.
Betty requested memorial contributions be directed to either Saint Mary’s Church, 35 Center Street, Waterloo NY 13165 or Beverly’s Animal Shelter, 50 East River Street, Waterloo.
Betty was born on February 26, 1925 in Geneva, N.Y. the daughter of the late Kenneth C. and Pauline (Bailey) Weber. She was a 1942 graduate of Waterloo High School. She worked at the Local Draft Board from 1963 – 1973, OTB for five years and then at the Seneca Army Depot from 1979 until her retirement in 1988. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of N.A.R.F.E local chapter 1620 and volunteered at the Terwilliger Museum in Waterloo. Betty was an avid bowler for over 40 years. She was full of life and was up for doing anything. After taking care of her husband in his later years, Betty enjoyed bus trips with her friends, lunches every Friday, where she was the taxi for those who could not drive, breakfast with her retiree friends, tea parties with her grandchildren, gardening, going to the camp in the Adirondacks and just being around people as much as possible.
She is survived by her daughters Patricia Buffone of Waterloo, Mary (Mark) Ansley of Geneva, and Julia (Robert) Rodger of Waterloo; sons Stephen W. (Ruth Shaffer) and Jeffrey M. (Sharon) Jenkins both of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces; nephews and cousins.
Betty is predeceased by her husband, William “Syd” Jenkins; son-in-law, Ralph Buffone; sisters Elinora Murdock and Ann McCulloch; brother, Kenneth Edward Weber.
