Cayuga County lawmakers are continuing to fight for federal help for the damage caused by two weeks of storms the ravaged southern Cayuga County. Last night, the legislature voted to approve a resolution to seek the help of Congressman John Katko and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to push FEMA to reverse their decision to not declare a disaster.
County Environmental Engineer Bruce Natale tells Finger Lakes News Radio seven times in the past 20 years FEMA grouped storms in NY State together to declare a disaster.
Natale wonders if FEMA has changed its policy.
It’s estimated the damage to the county and municipalities caused by flooding last summer topped $4 Million.
