Talk of a new firehouse for the Auburn Fire Department is back on the front burner.
Auburn City Manager said on Wednesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News the need to replace the existing fire station has been a long-standing issue.
The current plan that has been in the works for some time would use vacant space in the Save-a-Lot plaza at the north end of Seminary Street. Dygert called it a cost-effective move for the city.
The proposed move would also see some county agencies moving their offices to the plaza, as well the construction of a garage to house the fire apparatus that has outgrown the current firehouse.
