Harold H. Burt Jr., 83, of Columbia St. died Friday (February 9, 2018).
It was Harold’s wish to have family and friends attend calling hours at the family home at 99 Columbia St., Clyde. They will be on Wednesday (February 14) from 2 to 7 p.m. (His last party in the garage.) Funeral Mass with military rites will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday (February 15) at St. John’s Church, 114 Sodus St., Clyde. Burial will be in Maplegrove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Clyde Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 15 Ford St., Clyde.
Porky, as he was known to many, was born in Clyde, April 7, 1934, son of Harold and Jennie Buliteri Burt. He was proud to be the only boy in his 8th grade class at St. John’s Catholic School. He also served as an Altar boy at St. John’s Catholic Church. He retired from Parker Hannifin Co. in Clyde with 31 years of service.
He retired from Parker Hannifin Co. in Clyde, where he was employed as a machine maintenance engineer with 31 years of service. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW in Clyde, The George Washington Lodge, Clyde Fire Department, Clyde Flying Club, Hilltop Gun Club, 516th Signal Company and 97th Battalion Association.
Survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Farrell Burt; two daughters, Susan McLean (Dennis Buckner) of Canton, N.C., Brenda (Jeff) Smith of Lyons; son, Brett (Tracey) Burt of Phelps; stepson, James Merrihew of Latham; six grandchildren, Jordan, Adrianne, Alexis (Joseph), Aria, Ian, Evan; sister, Myrtie Wilkos of Liverpool; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins, as well as a very special cousin, Robert Burt of Clyde.
He was predeceased by both parents and step- father, Joseph Mendola; sister and brother-in-law, Carol (George) Farrell; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene (Dorothy) Burt and brother-in-law, Frank Wilkos.
