Cayuga County is a step closer to joining a multi-county lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies that manufacture opioids. The Government Operations Committee on Tuesday night unanimously passed a resolution to hire Napoli Shkolnik PLLC, the New York City law firm the committee recommended in October.
County Administrator J. Justin Woods tells Finger Lakes News Radio it’s just the first step in joining the class action suit.
Woods adds the goal of joining the suit is to recognize the cost to the county caused by the over-prescribing of narcotics.
More than a dozen New York counties, including Onondaga, are currently named as plaintiffs.
