A front cover story on Sunday’s New York Daily News details a lawsuit filed against an Auburn prison guard that is accused of waterboarding and savagely beating two inmates in two separate incidents.
Lt. Troy Mitchell is under investigation after two inmates accused him of pouring water over their mouths and noses while they were shackled. Mitchell is also accused of beating inmate Matthew Raymond so savagely, that he needs a catheter to urinate. Mitchell was suspended without pay at the end of last August as part of an ongoing investigation into the matter.
In 2012, a female corrections officer at Auburn, Penny Collins, received almost one-MILLION dollars in a judgment and back pay after winning a sexual harassment lawsuit against Mitchell and other correction officers.
