A 2002 graduate of Penn Yan Academy is Yates County’s new public defender.
Katie Martens-Henderson was recently appointed by the county legislature.
Martens-Henderson graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Keuka College in 2006, the University of Buffalo Law School in 2010 and was admitted the bar two years later.
She had been an assistant public-defender for three years.
Martens-Henderson succeeds longtime public defender, Ed Brockman.
