The Victor mail carrier accused of stealing mail appeared in court to answer to a drug charge.
The Daily Messenger reports 45-year-old James Ludwig pleaded not guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Troopers say Ludwig had morphine on him when he was arrested last month.
Prosecutors say they have Ludwig on surveillance tapes opening mail and taking cash and gift cards. Ludwig faces a maximum of 5 years in Federal prison and a $250,000 fine if he’s convicted of mail theft.
