The Seneca Watershed Intermunicipal Organization passed a resolution Tuesday night opposing the trash incinerator proposed for the town of Romulus. Geneva Town Supervisor Mark Venuti believes Circular EnerG LLC, which is proposing the incinerator, thought they would be able to sneak the project through.
In Venuti’s opinion, the incinterator is a terrible idea.
Last week, the Ontario County Board of Supervisors voted to oppose the project with several supervisors saying the 365 million dollar project at the former Seneca Army Depot would damage the region’s agriculture and tourism. Circular withdrew its application on file with the Romulus Town Planning Board in January and instead filed an Article 10 request to make the State Public Service Commission the lead agency for determining the suitability of the project.
