Standing in front of a room full of supporters in Liverpool Tuesday afternoon, State Senator John DeFrancisco announced he is runner for Governor of New York.
DeFrancisco said under Governor Andrew Cuomo’s watch, the state has been mired in one corrupt scandal after another.
New York State GOP Chairman Edward Cox released this statement following DeFrancisco’s announcement:
“Senator DeFrancisco has established himself as a leader and fiscal expert with the experience needed to tackle New York’s budget woes and get our economy growing again. While Andrew Cuomo is steeped in a massive corruption trial of his pay-to-play Administration, the New York Republican Party is putting forth candidates with the experience and vision to fix our state. We look forward to working with our Party leaders to select our nominee, but one thing is clear: for the sake of New Yorkers, this year we must elect ‘Anyone But Cuomo.'”
GOP Candidate for Governor Joel Giambra released this statement:
“I welcome Senator DeFrancisco to the race for Governor. Throughout his nearly three decades in Albany, John has been a strong voice for Central New York. I respect his service and look forward to a conversation about how we can restore integrity and trust in our state government.”
