A working sprinkler system and early detection kept a room fire at Ithaca College from spreading Thursday morning.
Firefighters were called to the 10th floor of the East Tower around 9 o’clock for a fire alarm activation. Heavy smoke, which activated the building’s sprinkler system, was reported in the hallway. Students safely evacuated and the fire was contained to a dorm room. The room did sustain significant damage and the cause remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
