The 2017 annual report from the Cayuga County Office of Tourism shows the county is, as the office’s new slogan says, making some waves.
Tourism Cayuga Director Meg Vanek said on Monday’s Finger Lakes Morning News the report is a chance to keep residents and employers informed about tourism’s impact on the county.
In addition, the annual report shows the agency is more than an office with brochures in downtown Auburn.
Tourism in 2017 generated $12.6 Million in state and local taxes, was responsible for employing over 1,700 people and provided each county household $380 in tax relief.
For the first time ever, visitors spent more than $100 Million on a half dozen tourism related categories.
